School Community Council Agenda items:

  1. Approval of minutes from the previous meeting in February
    1. Approved a new member of the SCC, Daniel
  2. School Data update/Budget Review
    1. Continuing to pay para-educators
  3. Finalize TSSP and Land Trust Goals for 2021-22 school year
    1. Reviewed goals that had been discussed from previous meetings in both math and reading
    2. Q: With the math intervention class, if a student needs both math intervention and reading intervention what do we do?
      1. A: There will be a dialogue with home and probably assign students to the class where they have the greater deficit.
    3. Discussed Math 180 and the Back-to-Back math class
    4. Discussed small group professional development for next year.  This will allow for extension and remediation
    5. Talked about how a goal of the aftershool program will be to build greater connections with students
      1. Q: How many days will this be?
      2. A: Probably 3 days a week.
    6. Talked about how we are building our own “AVID Summer Institute”
    7. Reviewed School Climate Goals
    8. Reviewed funding associtated with the plan
  1. FTE (Full Time Equivalent)
    1. Were given two extra FTEs for math interventions and a CTE teacher
    2. The CTE teacher is to help us begin building a CTE Magnet School and increase our school population
      1. Will some of these CTE classes begin next year?
      2. Q: Yes.  We interviewed a great teacher and we are hoping she picks our school.
    3. Are reducing staff by 3.5.
    4. The district is down student population
      1. Q: Do we know how this compares with other districts?
      2. A: No.
    5. Q: What if more students enroll next year?
    6. A: Once we have students in the building, there are counts and if there are more students we can higher more teachers.
  1. Counseling Update
    1. Working on scheduling
    2. Began a lunch time group in the Serenity Room
