Background
: Ms. Hilton grew up in Utah and has lived here all of her life. She is the youngest of five and grew up in a family with a wide variety of interests and hobbies. She has a rescue dog named Calvin who is part Black Lab and part Newfoundland. A random fact you would not know is that her father owned the company that built the cameras that found the titanic. He was an engineer and oceanographer who participated in many historical and military projects. Ms. Hilton gained her love of travel and history from her parents who traveled all over the world.

Education: Brigham Young University, B.A. History and Health Education, Brigham Young University, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership.

It should be noted, Ms. Hilton was raised in a very “red” household and has season football and basketball tickets to the University of Utah! Go Utes! (She cheers for BYU too!)

Experience: Ms. Hilton started her teaching career at Hillcrest High School as a health teacher and student government adviser. She was the PTSA Teacher of the Year and is still in touch with many of her Hillcrest students. She later taught just about every topic in the Social Studies department including A.P. U.S. History. Student leadership is very important to Ms. Hilton and she is the Executive Director of the Utah Association of Student Councils and serves on the executive board for the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals. She also serves on a national board dedicated to promoting student leadership programs.

Ms. Hilton was encouraged to go into administration by colleagues at Hillcrest. She applied and was accepted to the L.P.P. Program in 1998. She served an internship at Brighton High and was then hired as an assistant principal at Brighton and worked there for 7 years. She then worked at Copper Hills High as an assistant for 3 years and returned to Brighton High as the principal for the last 9 years. Several years ago, while running a middle school leadership conference, Ms. Hilton was struck by how much she enjoyed the middle school kids. At the time, she thought to herself, “I would really enjoy working in a middle school.” And now, she has her chance! She is excited for the opportunity to work in a great middle school like Eastmont.

Hobbies and Special Interests:  Ms. Hilton has always had a love for history. As a child, the opportunity to travel with her parents fueled that love! She is a traveler who likes to “learn” as well relax while traveling. Ms. Hilton has visited China, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Ukraine. She has also traveled all over the United States. San Diego is a favorite family destination and a city she counts as her “second city.” She loves to cook and makes great homemade jam. She also enjoys hosting neighborhood get-togethers and her annual S’more party is a favorite!
