Safety First

Join us in Keeping Canyons District's Schools Safe
Our school works hard to prepare for and prevent emergency situations and we’re encouraged by statistics that show schools are still among the safest places for children. Reports of bullying and victimization at the nation’s schools are on the decline. Nevertheless, schools are the heart of a community, and must often serve as the linchpin of a community’s response to an array of emergencies. This is where a “safety-first” mindset and emergency-preparedness pay off, and why it’s important that all of us be vigilant. Canyons District's employees undergo training each year and participate, along with students, in school emergency drills. August and September are the months for holding fire drills (see below). In the coming year, we'll be sending information about CSD's safety protocols home to families. We encourage parents to familiarize themselves with this information and discuss it at home. If you have children in one of our schools, tell your child that the most important thing to do in an emergency is to follow the directions of their principal, teachers and school staff. It’s important to reassure them and let them know that you have confidence in the training that school staff have received. And, remember if you see or hear something that makes you feel unsafe, report it to your school principal or through the anonymous crisis and safety tip line, SafeUT.
